We all have 24 hours in a day. How can you best use YOUR time? Getting important things done first sets the tone for accomplishment. Then, you can get to work on goals and tasks that will improve the quality of your life. The SIX THINGS CHALLENGE works best when you have identified a SMART GOAL for the month. The challenge works like this:
SIX THINGS DAILY CHALLENGE
1. Write down THREE things you MUST get done today. The “must-do things” are the ones that will have a negative impact if you don’t… (returning important phone calls, signing up kids for activities, etc.).
2. Next, write down THREE MORE THINGS. These are the things that will create a POSITIVE impact on your life when you do them, or steps towards one of your larger “PUSH” goals. These are the things that often get put on the back burner in favor of “busy work” activities and daily tasks. These things are NOT pressing matters, which is why they often don’t get done. However, when you complete them, you’ll be improving the quality of your life (taking a step towards a goal, exercise, reaching out to a friend, etc.)
WHY Do the Daily Challenge
Last September, I ran a challenge group that did the Six Things Daily Challenge each day for a month. It was amazing how much progress I made towards my goals over the course of that month, simply by doing those three MORE things each day. Starting the momentum of moving towards my goals made me want to push harder to accomplish them. Not only did those easy steps get me closer to my goals, I found that they generated ideas and motivation to be more productive.
