CELEBRATING THE WOMEN WHO CHOOSE TO “TURNIP THE BEET”
Sometimes I get frustrated when I talk to women who want to lose weight, but aren’t willing to change. Just today, I spoke to a few who told me,
“I’m a picky eater. I don’t think this is for me.”
“I’m too tired to cook when I get home from work.”
“I don’t really like vegetables.”
When I hear these statements, it’s easy for me to see what they are… excuses. Things people tell themselves to justify staying trapped in their own comfort zone. The truth is, your life won’t change unless YOU are willing to change. Keep the same habits, keep the same results. That may sound harsh, but you know what? Being overweight is also REALLY harsh. I’d rather have them pick the kind of harsh that is actually WORTH the struggle. The harsh that gets them fitting into that pair of jeans again… or wearing a belt for the first time in years. Wanting to be IN the family photos and not hide in the background. Life is too short not to be the best version of yourself that you can possibly be.
Change isn’t easy. In fact, sometimes it’s scary. And, when it comes to weight loss… it’s not always fun. But you know what? It’s not as daunting as it seems. When you have an accountability group to go through these struggles with you, it seems a LOT less painless. It’s helpful to see what other women are having for lunch, and the hear about the new cauliflower recipe that actually tasted… GOOD. To celebrate their victories with them, have that positive energy rub off on YOU. It actually becomes… FUN.
I know this because my groups keep me motivated EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I don’t know where I’d be without them. So, this post is dedicated to the ladies in my #SUMMERSTRONG group who chose their own kind of HARD. And, the ones that are KICKING IT INTO HIGH GEAR THIS WEEK!! They are amazing!!!
