Sometimes you need to have a goal to shoot for when you start a fitness program. I personally don’t like measuring progress by the scale – it lies! (More on that here: Why You Should Ignore Your Weight) Instead, measure your progress through effort. Are you working out? How about tipping yourself for each workout?! Put your “tips” in a jar that you save for a special reward: New workout clothes, a mani/pedi, or a new Personal Development book. You can even include a photo of your reward item in your jar.
Tranformation Tuesday: Inner Confidence
TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY
My transformation story as a challenger and coach is more a story of inner confidence than outer transformation. While I’ve been hitting fitness and clean eating hard, my greatest transformation has come from within. I used to think I was too old to be seen as a good coach. Not pretty enough. I was overly concerned about what people that didn’t even know me would think of me if I really put myself out there on social media. Through personal development, I’ve gained confidence. In the past year I’ve gone from beginner to Premiere coach. That means I am leading a team that is in the top 1% of the organization. I have big goals for myself and my team and am putting my foot on the gas pedal. If you are interested in going on this journey with us, let me know. I will provide all the support and mentorship you need. You won’t regret it for a minute.

Day 8: Inviting
Inviting people is one of the key activities for you as a Coach. When we genuinely want to help others, inviting becomes a natural step. Without much thought, we talk about what we feel passionate about…so don’t overthink inviting. Keep it simple and conversational.
Consider these four points.
–> Be clear. In an attempt to not seem “pushy” we may beat around the bush in our invites. This gives the impression that we aren’t confident in what we’re offering. When you invite, be clear and direct about what you’re asking them to do in one sentence: “I want you to join me in this next Challenge Group.”
–> Be conversational. Don’t try to memorize a perfect script — people respond best when they feel you’re conversing with
them naturally. So, work the invitation into a discussion. It’s normal to feel nervous, but practice and experience will
make this easier as time goes on, so be patient.
–> Lower the pressure. No one likes to feel “salesy” when talking with other people. You’ll feel salesy when your focus is on you instead of helping the other person. We want to share and build relationships, not sell and make transactions. Remember, you’re asking them to make a simple decision to help improve their quality of life, so relax and don’t put so much pressure on yourself or them!
–> Repeat as necessary. Many times, people won’t accept your first invitation. That’s okay! They may just be looking for additional information or the timing might be tough for them. Continue to add value to them and follow up from time to time and then invite them again when you feel the time is right.

Dream BIG in 2016
Hey all you friends out there, if you have not realized your potential, know that you CAN. I, for one, believe in you! I’m a firm believer that everyone was put on this earth to do great things. Unfortunately, sometimes things get in the way. Circumstances can make it harder for you, for sure — but don’t let that be your excuse. Most likely, the only thing that’s holding you back is your own self-talk and negative beliefs about yourself. We’re often afraid of two things:
Fear of Failure
If you are afraid to start because you don’t think you’ll be good at something, consider this. What do you have to lose by trying? There are so many examples of people out there that didn’t give up on their dreams. Bill Gates’ first business failed. JK Rowling got rejected over 12 times before publishing Harry Potter. It was Thomas Edison that said, “I haven’t failed, I’ve found 10,000 ways that didn’t work.” The message is to keep on keepin’ on. Be persistent in the face of failure. Let them be teaching moments that are simply preparing you for bigger and better things.
Fear of Success
This one took me a little bit more time to wrap my brain around. Who the hell doesn’t want to be successful? But then I realized, it’s not that they don’t want it, it’s that they think that they don’t deserve it. They picture themselves as not good enough in some way. Not intelligent enough. Not good looking enough. Not charismatic enough. Trust me, everyone has self-doubts. I do. You don’t know how many times I tell myself, “Why should you be a top coach? You’re not fit enough. Not good looking enough. Not organized enough. Not charismatic enough….” The list goes on and on. But if you are a believer, you know that God doesn’t make junk. Get over it, and get GOING! How will you ever know if you don’t try?
Jeff Rocks!
Thanks to my new friend Jeff K. (pictured here) for sharing these thoughts with me. Besides being a super-motivational guy anyone would want in their corner, and a corporate Beachbody Dude, he is perfect as a planking base! (I can’t wait to see what kind of shenanigans we can pull off in California in a week or so – suggestions?) He also recommended this book, The One Thing, which is next up on my personal development list. He understands that if your mind isn’t in the right place, accomplishing much else in your life is really hard.
The Dream Big Challenge
During our recent Super Saturday event, he challenged us all to watch this video. While you’re watching it, ask yourself these questions. What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail? If you ended 2016 with a HUGE accomplishment, what would that look like? Let’s DO IT TOGETHER! I’d love to coach you to help you find the person you were meant to be. Find me and accept the challenge.
