Last year, I made a concerted effort to slow down a little bit, focus on my family and fine-tune my enjoyment of what really matters. I had found that I was spending too much time starting at my phone and computer screen, and not enough time focusing on cultivating hobbies. I’ve always been a voracious reader, but my book consumption was becoming increasingly reliant upon technology like audiobooks and digital downloads. While I still love Audible to listen to books– and I’ll still be using it, my true challenge this year is to read actual paper books. I want to experience the tactile nature of holding books again, turning their pages, focusing on the words in print.
So, my guidelines for my personal reading challenge are pretty simple:
- Read 52 books within the course of the 52 weeks of 2019
- Books must be in the form of a paperback or hardcover, no audiobooks or Kindle
- They can be re-reads, but you have to start the book again in 2019
I’ll be posting about what I read here on the blog as well as in my Beach Ready Now Facebook Group. I invite you to join me! You can start at any time during the year, and feel free to create your own personal rules.
