Time for my rant about the BIG PICTURE here friends. I get a lot of questions via my Beach Ready Now blog about how to count certain foods and containers. I’m happy to answer questions, but it really concerns me that so many of you are really getting wrapped up in the minutiae of the program. I think it’s OK to go into a plan with 100% commitment, but you will GO CRAZY if you have to live like that long-term. The world will not stop spinning if you eat something not on the approved list. If you eat an extra yellow one day, skip a green the next – YOU WILL BE FINE! Whether or not you count a tomato as a green or a purple doesn’t really matter, does it? It’s healthy! Go for it! Also, listen to your body. If you are FULL, don’t eat. If you are truly HUNGRY, you should eat!
Bottom line, the 21 Day Fix is GREAT for teaching a clean eating lifestyle that incorporates the right mix of macro nutrients along with a well-balanced workout. It’s the best I’ve found. However, despite the name, it really isn’t a 21 day “FIX”. The 21 day principle comes from the amount of time it takes to change a habit, I get that… but if you are truly invested in clean living and exercise you don’t get to “quit” after the 21 days. It’s both a lifestyle and a process.
My advice? Don’t sweat the small stuff. If you can adopt the big-picture viewpoint and keep trying to strive to do better you WILL do better. Just keep on trying to do better every day and BE KIND to yourself when you can’t.
